The Clean Power Plan was a signature rule issued under the Obama administration intended to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from power plants. However, it was immediately contested and the Supreme Court issued a stay of the rule while a lower court decided the case. Soon after gaining power, the Trump administration proposed repealing the Clean Power Plan, and in August 2018, the EPA proposed the Affordable Clean Energy rule. According to the Trump administration, the new rule "empowers states, promotes energy independence, and facilitates economic growth and job creation." This session will provide an update on these regulatory initiatives.
